Purim

The Purim Anthem

Kibbutz Gvar’am, 1967

Purim time is here
Haman awakens
from the tree cheering
because the time has come
yes, i have ordered trouble
on all the Jews
thanks to Vashti and me you have Purim
Chorus: Because people always say,
Purim doesn’t come every day

Through television
let’s joke around
make a revision
even if it explodes
it’s Purim today
so let us sing
on a crooked mirror
Chorus: Because people always say,
Purim doesn’t come every day

Forget in the room for a moment
that you are married
sip some more 777
and then you’ll be drunk
you may even forget
what your name is
you may remember later
your wife certainly will
Chorus: Because people always say,
Purim doesn’t come every day
